What makes our approach to therapy unique? At Expressive Arts Place, we recognize that barriers to mental health care contribute to the stigma that many individuals and communities face. This stigma can make it particularly difficult to talk about aspects of one’s life that are not going well, so we offer innovative approaches that go beyond traditional talk therapy. This can take many forms such as meditation, writing, art, music, yoga, and movement. These expressive forms of communication offer new ways of accessing deep aspects of one’s experience in order to better gain self-awareness and perspective. Ultimately, we advocate for each client to be in the driver's seat of their own therapy. Your therapist will be there to anchor and support you as a guide when you need direction, but ultimately you are the expert and the one in charge of your therapy.
