          Our Guiding Principles

At Expressive Arts Place, our work is guided by a set of principles that we believe are essential to achieving our mission. These guiding principles are:

Respect: We operate on the principle that respect is the first and most essential foundation of our work. We aim to treat our clients and the communities we serve with the utmost dignity and respect. This means that we honor individual differences and strive to create an environment where everyone feels valued and heard.

Creativity: We believe in the power of creativity and the arts to help people learn, grow, connect, and improve. We see creativity as a gateway to better health, education, and quality of life. Our programs use a variety of expressive arts modalities, including visual art, music, movement, drama, and writing, to help people access their innate creativity and use it as a tool for personal and social change.

Collaboration: We believe that collaboration is the driving force behind both the effectiveness and success of the programs we offer. Our programs emphasize bidirectional learning and encourage collaboration between individuals of all different backgrounds. We also collaborate with other organizations and agencies to ensure that our programs are responsive to the needs of the communities we serve.

Commitment: We are committed to the people and communities we serve and to our mission of increasing access to quality mental health information, supporting school systems, improving quality of life, and bringing people together through the arts. Our commitment is our promise, and we work tirelessly to ensure that our programs meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness.

Research: We recognize the great necessity to make the expressive therapies and mental health education accessible and culturally adapted to meet the needs of underserved global communities. We strive to implement and support research studies on how to best use the arts to address mental health with underserved populations. We also engage in ongoing evaluation and assessment of our programs to ensure that we are constantly improving and meeting the changing needs of the people we serve.

We believe that these guiding principles are essential to achieving our mission of improving the lives of people through the transformative power of the arts. Thank you for being a part of the Expressive Arts Place community, and we look forward to continuing to work with you to make a positive difference in the world.
